    A fire drill will be conducted this week in order to comply with the Standards of Accreditation, which state that every public school will conduct at least one fire drill per week during the first month of school.
      Faculty Professional Development for the week of Sept. 17 - 21  

      School-wide Shelter-In-Place has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 13th at 9AM.  This drill, much like fire and tornado drills, is designed to protect the safety of our students and staff by preparing them to respond calmly and effectively in the case of a real emergency. Please take this opportunity to have valuable discussions with your child about safety during any emergency situation. Please be assured that student safety is always of the greatest importance for the entire PCHS staff. 
      telephone call-out will be conducted on Tuesday evening (9/18) as a reminder that this drill will take place on Thursday of this week

      The Investments in Learning Assembly 
      has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  During this assembly the faculty and staff of Pulaski County High School will honor the students who have achieved high academic standards and/or perfect attendance during the previous school year.  The Class of 2019 nominees for the Most Valuable Cougar will also be named.  The Most Valuable Cougar is the highest recognition given to a student by our school.  Nominees were chosen by the senior class and the winner of the Most Valuable Cougar award will be revealed at the Senior Awards Assembly in May 2019.
      The assembly will conclude with the Graduation Excitement Campaign.  During this $100 cash give-away, any student who passed an end-of-course SOL test or an Industry Credential in the previous school year will have their name entered in to the drawing.  Our goal this year is to give out 70 awards or $7,000 in student incentives. Please contact Mrs. Alger (643-0230) if you are interested in donating to this campaign.

      Homecoming Guest Forms can be found in the front office. These forms must be completed in full for any Homecoming guest who is not enrolled at PCHS.  The deadline to submit forms to Mrs. Alger in the front office is Friday, September 21.  The Homecoming Game is Friday, September 28 vs. Hidden Valley and the Homecoming Dance is Saturday, September 29.

            The election for class officers and Student Council Association representatives took place on Friday, August 31 during all three lunch periods.  A big thank you to Mr. Ward and Mr. Whitaker for protecting vote security and that everything ran smoothly while the polls were open. We are proud to announce that voter participation was extremely high this year, with the senior class providing the highest turnout.  Thank you to everyone who participated, both the candidates and the constituents.

            2 Hour Early Release - 8/30/2018

            Pulaski County Public Schools will dismiss two hours early on Thursday, August 30 due to heat in some school buildings in the division.


            Pulaski Co. Schools will have a (2) two hour early release today, Thursday, August 30 due to high temperatures in classrooms. We will carry on with after school activities. The expectation for all after school activities is that coaches allow more frequent breaks during practice and that student athletes must hydrate during these frequent breaks. As always our sports medicine staff will be at practices and available if any issues arise.Today's heat will be in line with what we have dealt with during August pre-season practices. Activity buses will pick students up at 4PM. Below are details regarding today's practices, etc.

            8th Grade Football: Away game at William Fleming  5:30 pm  Bus Departs @ 3:30
            JV Football: Home game versus William Fleming  6:00 pm
            Varsity Football: Practice immediately after school
            Volleyball: Home match versus Carroll Co.  JV @ 5:30, Varsity to Follow
            Cross Country: Practice immediately after school
            Sideline Cheer (Varsity-JV-MS):  NO PRACTICE TODAY
            Competition Cheer: Practice immediately after school
            Band:  2 pm - 6 pm  (1.5 hours outside, remainder inside)
