2017 PCHS Election Results

Class Officer & SCA Election Results

The election for class officers and Student Council Association representatives took place on Tuesday, August 29 during all three lunch periods.  A big thank you to Mr. Ward and Mr. Whitaker for protecting vote security (each voting session required password protection with a time stamp & included IP address verification) and that everything ran smoothly while the polls were open to ensure only legitimate votes could be counted.  We are proud to announce that voter participation was extremely high this year, with the senior class providing the highest turnout.  Thank you to everyone who participated, both the candidates and the constituents.

Congratulations to those who were voted into office by their classmates.

Eclipse Safety

Provided by the PCHS nursing staff.
Provided by the PCHS Nurses Office.

As you are likely aware, a partial solar eclipse will be taking place on Monday, August 21 from 1:11 pm to 4:01 pm, with the maximum eclipse for our area at 2:39 pm.  Pulaski County High School is providing certified (ISO 12312-2) solar viewing lenses from Eclipse For a Cause to our science department as the instructional objectives for these courses align with the eclipse event.  Each of the students in a science course during 3rd and 4th blocks and periods 4 - 6 have been given permission forms to ensure that they have parental/guardian permission to view the eclipse with the provided solar viewing lenses.  Any student who fails to return the permission form or is not given parental permission in writing must stay inside during the eclipse, until 3:22 pm.

The Science Department at Pulaski County High School takes a moment to test out their ISO 12312-2 solar viewing lenses.
All other classes at PCHS are directed to remain inside during this event until the school day is dismissed at 3:22 pm.  Teachers who have independently purchased solar viewing glasses for their students have been instructed to allow administration the opportunity to verify that the lenses meet the ISO 12312-2 rating for solar viewing.  If the glasses do meet this rating, then the teacher will need to provide the permission form to each student in their class.  Any student who fails to return the permission form or is not given parental permission in writing must stay inside during the eclipse, until 3:22.  Other than class changes, students are not permitted to be outside during any point of the eclipse phase.  Non-certified viewing lenses, pinhole lenses, digital cameras, etc. will not be used in place of certified ISO 12312-2 rated solar viewing lenses.

NASA will be live streaming the eclipse on Monday, August 21, 2017.  This is the safest route to participating if you did not purchase ISO 12312-2 rated glasses.

Freshman Orientation Day - 8/10/2017
