    Faculty Professional Development for the week of Sept. 24 - 28  

    The Investments in Learning Assembly 
    has been rescheduled for Wednesday, October 3, 2018.  During this assembly the faculty and staff of Pulaski County High School will honor the students who have achieved high academic standards and/or perfect attendance during the previous school year.  The Class of 2019 nominees for the Most Valuable Cougar will also be named.  The Most Valuable Cougar is the highest recognition given to a student by our school.  Nominees were chosen by the senior class and the winner of the Most Valuable Cougar award will be revealed at the Senior Awards Assembly in May 2019.
    The assembly will conclude with the Graduation Excitement Campaign.  During this $100 cash give-away, any student who passed an end-of-course SOL test or an Industry Credential in the previous school year will have their name entered in to the drawing.  Our goal this year is to give out 70 awards or $7,000 in student incentives. Please contact Mrs. Alger (643-0230) if you are interested in donating to this campaign.

    Congratulations to Jacob Short and Addie Levy for wining first and second place, respectfully, at PCHS' talent show on Sunday, September 30.  They will move on to the 2018 Shelor Growing The Future Finals Talent Show on November 10 at Christiansburg High School.

    Will YOU be in the yearbook? Please be sure your Directory Release Form is filled out allowing your photo to be included in the yearbook.  Currently, we have several hundred students who will not be featured in the yearbook.  Don't miss out on the opportunity to document these high school years!  See Ms. Alger or the School Counseling Office if you have questions.

        A fire drill will be conducted this week in order to comply with the Standards of Accreditation, which state that every public school will conduct at least one fire drill per week during the first month of school.
          Faculty Professional Development for the week of Sept. 17 - 21  

          School-wide Shelter-In-Place has been rescheduled for Wednesday, September 13th at 9AM.  This drill, much like fire and tornado drills, is designed to protect the safety of our students and staff by preparing them to respond calmly and effectively in the case of a real emergency. Please take this opportunity to have valuable discussions with your child about safety during any emergency situation. Please be assured that student safety is always of the greatest importance for the entire PCHS staff. 
          telephone call-out will be conducted on Tuesday evening (9/18) as a reminder that this drill will take place on Thursday of this week

                The election for class officers and Student Council Association representatives took place on Friday, August 31 during all three lunch periods.  A big thank you to Mr. Ward and Mr. Whitaker for protecting vote security and that everything ran smoothly while the polls were open. We are proud to announce that voter participation was extremely high this year, with the senior class providing the highest turnout.  Thank you to everyone who participated, both the candidates and the constituents.
